Was chatting earlier with a friend who was planning to make a trip to Redang Island, Terengganu. It's been long since I last visited Redang. I think I was erm... 10 or 11 years old then? Definitely shorter and skinnier, though... Heard much has changed and that the reef (for one) is not as beautiful as it was. I suppose this is the result of over-commercialising... It seems that the memories I had of Redang Island were reflections of it at its prime; before over-commercialising and over-development(?) claimed its pristine beauty.
However, Terengganu still has beautiful coasts... Kijal was quite pretty. If you remember, I spent some time there earlier this year. Awana Kijal, to be exact. Was supposed to post regarding the trip, but never really gotten round to doing it - I suppose this post will suffice? Anyways, the following are the "achievements-of-the-day" during my trip there...
DAY 1 (12-01-2008) - Relax! : The snap-happy has not kicked in yet (maybe cos tired from travelling)
DAY 2 (13-01-2008) - Hit the beach!! : Sand turtle on the beach (more interesting than sand castles, right? *winks*) to commemorate my visit
DAY 3 (14-01-2008) - Eye on the sun!! : The wait for sunrise... (It was a long wait - woke up and walked to the beach in the dark; the sky became bright but no sign of the sun ~ it probably had stage fright and hid behind the clouds, given the cameras readied to document its arrival!)
Finally, a hint of sunrise!!
Attempt to take picture at dusk (waited so long for sunrise; hoping that it would be easier to take sunset instead, hehe)
DAY 4 (16-01-2008) - Beach bum!! : Spend most waking moments attempting to get a tan and getting some R&R
Rough seas today though; almost got swept out to sea too
DAY 5 (17-02-2008) - Sayonara, Kijal!! : Poser shot with the blue skies background at the rest stop on the way home
An interesting observation along the highway - new meaning to relaxing travel options!!
Dusk - finally back in KL!
What to do in Kijal, Terengganu? Eat, sleep, RELAX... Not too much else to do otherwise, hehe! Attempted to get a tan, but don't think that worked out too well... Even the little (if any) of a tan I had managed to get was lost pretty quickly within the next couple of weeks, sigh.
Speaking of commercialising and development, I just heard today that Sentosa Island is going through quite some changes. For one, the musical fountain/laser show no more... *sad* Look how pretty it was...
Which also reminds me, feel like making a trip to visit Singapore again... Want to visit Australia again also... Want to (finally) make that trip to UK... Want to, want to, want to... sighz... When is "want to" going to transition to "going to" and followed by "gone to"?? I wanna go holiday... soon?
